Bernd Lemke, MD, PhD is Professor of Cardiology at the University of Bochum, and, Head of the Department of Cardiology, Electrophysiology and Angiology of the Märkische Kliniken, the biggest health care provider of southern Westphalia., Germany. He joined HVR Cardio’s advisory board during the translational phase from the animal disease model to pre-pivotal human.
Professor Lemke attended Medical School in Cologne, Essen and Bochum. He specialized in interventional cardiology as well as interventional electrophysiology and pacemaker therapy.
He was a speaker for the Working Group Cardiac Pacemaker of the German Society of Cardiology, member of the ESC Working Group Cardiac Pacemaker, and is a founding member of the European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA). He was the main author of the German guidelines for resynchronization therapy.
Professor Lemke is a member of the editorial boards of numerous international peer reviewed journals. His main interest is the catheter ablation of A Fib and ventricular tachycardia as well as resynchronization therapy. His institution is performing all types of cardiac interventions for structural heart disease.
He is an active member of the German Federal Council for Quality control in Cardiology, and, has currently co-edited, authored and published the 3rdedition of the handbook for PM- and Defibrillator Therapy (Thieme).
